Snowshoeing Hikes
Your Safety: Please consider some other realities about these beautiful adventures. You need to honestly evaluate your own physical condition before booking any Winter adventure with us. You will get to practice snowshoeing or skiing in deep snow on several miles in a day which will consume lots of your energy. Because of the extreme coldness (from -10° to -25° or sometimes more) the necessity to wear effective warm and comfortable cloths is very important. Also in Winter in Lapland (especially from November to the beginning of February) days are short. Hiking in the snow slows you down twice compared to a regular speed on a normal ground. Last thing to remember. It can be very windy on the top of the fells or on the lakes. Wind makes you tired more easily. Therefore save your energy with wisdom.

The snow is often deep. The slope is always steep. We climb it anyway as it is promised that a beautiful view over the Ounasjoki Valley away from the crowds is our reward. The guide carries everything to make an open fire and cook a light meal over there. The atmosphere of gathering outdoors by a bonfire in the polar night or under the stars or in the light on a beautiful sunny day will create in you an unforgettable moment of simple life.

THE EXPERIENCE TO LIVE: This is a less demanding version of our most popular snowshoeing trip -scroll down and read more about "Oxygen 11"- for those who want a full adventure day in the open wilderness of Finnish Lapland but with the opportunity to journey on a slower pace and to climb less. There's something fascinating to wander through that valley. When the Winter sunshine goes down into it then it's to offer us the most amazing lights of the season and to literally spark our souls. Also, you sense the adventure spirit when you understand that you're entering into a place that is kind of closed the rest of the year because of some very sponge grounds and multiple creeks and streams. On a higher spot, we take a break for a solid lunch by the fireplace. We complete the experience with a time of contemplation on the top of the "Little Black Hill" where from you can admire the gentle lines of the Pallas Fells range. Over the years we can tell that some nice wildlife has nicely interrupted that time of contemplation on the hill. Expect to receive that special treat from nature too!

THE EXPERIENCE TO LIVE: Recently a local media asked me as a guide which spot was my favorite one in the whole region. I'm in love with so many but if I had to choose then I answered this one that I've called "Oxygen". Read about it. It takes you to the top of the fells where you can breathe the purest air in the world and where you can let yourself be amazed by the panoramic view of the mountains of Pallas National Park. The view has a very unique angle that you can't get anywhere else. The lonely trees exposed to the freezing winds and the snow storms add to the landscape. After a bit demanding ascend we go down into the forest where a lovely hut is ready to welcome us for a solid lunch. Nearby you won't miss that old authentic log cabin which marries with nature so well. And just because it is so beautiful we have added one more kilometer in 2023. Now you're ready to hike the "Oxygen 11" trip, a unique itinerary made in Lappitrek.

THE EXPERIENCE TO LIVE: The true Finnish way of life is a good snowshoeing hike to the top of one of the highest fells in the area followed by a long relaxing time in a luxury sauna by the lake. We have created that exciting combo of two great moments of adventure as the sites of these two are separated by only one kilometer! Save your whole day for this program as we will try to rediscover the virtues of uniting ourselves with the natural elements and slowing down the pace of our lives. Indeed that hike cannot be a round trip rush to the summit forgetting to enjoy the wide-angle views of the lakes on both sides of the mountain, the immense taiga that stretches to the Swedish border, and the long range of Pallas fells. Likewise, a sauna experience cannot be a schedule to obey. We will take time to discover the different Lappish atmospheres filling the several sauna rooms, and of course to take a few dips in the icy water in the refreshing waters of the lake.
